Incredible reference!

I have already read through half of this book and would like to greatly compliment the authors of the book for a job well done. If you are looking to TRULY understand the 802.11 protocol, this book is a must read. Furthermore, with 802.11n, as an industry, we are still very early in our implementation of all of what 802.11n can offer. This book talks about the features that are available and implemented now and also what will likely be introduced by equipment vendors in the coming years.

In addition to 802.11n, there have been many recent amendments to the 802.11 protocol such as 802.11r, 802.11k, 802.11w and more. Many changes are still coming to equipment vendor implementation and this book includes all of the important ones.

There is a great section on spectrum analysis as well.

As a Wireless LAN professional, you NEED to have this book on your bookshelf as a reference - period.

CWAP Study Guide is a must have

This guide not only helps prepare an individual for success on the CWAP Certification from CWNP but also is a great desk reference. The kindle version makes a great pocket reference. This book is a mile wide and a mile deep. It provides great insight into the interworkings of the 802.11 protocol including the latest standards such as 802.11n. One great aspect is the invaluable insight given into the complex 802.11 operations to make them simple to understand. Overall, this book does a great job taking the 1200 page 802.11 standard and distilling it into a useful palletable reference and concept guide. This is a must have for any wireless engineer looking to further their knowledge and career. The authors bring a wealth of knowledge and real world experience of how the protocol is actually implemented in the real world and focusing on what packets you will actually see.

Good book, read the CWNA first before this one

This is a great book that goes into 802.11 frame formats, protocol analysis and spectrum analysis in good detail. I'd recommend reading the CWNA book first before tackling this one. This book is especially useful if you're looking at wi-fi troubleshooting in enterprise networks. If you work for a wi-fi vendor, distributor, reseller or are a customer who has deployed a large wi-fi network, I'd recommend reading this book to get insights into troubleshooting.

An unforgettable philosophy

This wonderful little book outlines a kind of caring that can give order and meaning to our life. Mayeroff's caring is a process in which we selflessly help an 'other' (be it a person, idea, or ideal) to grow and actualize itself.

Caring requires effort: Knowing (many things about the other and ourself); Alternating Rhythms (incorporating feedback in our caring); Patience (I like his definition: 'Patience is not waiting passively for something to happen, but it is a kind of participation with the other in which we give fully of ourselves.'); Honesty; Trust (of ourself as well as of the other); Humility; Hope (as an expression of a present alive with possibilities); and Courage.

By caring for the other, we become actualized. By focusing on the process, we show our concern for the future through the care we take with what is present now.

Caring can give order and meaning to life, if the others we choose are inclusive enough. Then these others become what Mayeroff calls 'appropriate others' -- they enable us to be complete, 'somewhat as playing music enables the musician to be himself.' Appropriate others become a center around which our life can be ordered.

Mayeroff believed that through finding and helping to develop our appropriate others, we discover and create the meaning of our life.

There are two reasons I wanted to review On Caring. One, it is a wonderful book that has stayed with me since I first read it years ago. Two, when I read The Faithful Wife by Sigrid Undset, I marveled at how beautifully that book seemed to incorporate Mayeroff's ideas.

One finds their true home through caring and being cared for

Caring is something we can strive to do every day. Many oppportunities will open up as we interconnect with others on a day to day basis.

I always try to live by these sayings, do unto others as you would have others do unto you and, what you reap is what you sow. To receive love you must give love. It is our life's cycle. At times in our life we are the doers, the givers, at other times takers, receivers.

To be the taker is not selfish but self actualization. It requires humility to accept love, especially when you are not feeling loveable. In these pages Milton Mayeroff gives us a philosophy of life in a nutshell.

It is a small book but nevertheless brings great comfort and peace to the soul.

Other powerful authors are Victor Frankl who wrote Man's Search for Meaning, Man's Search for Meaning Abraham Maslow, Religions, Values, and Peak Experiences and Rabbi Harold Kushner, When Bad Things Happen to Good People. When Bad Things Happen to Good People All powerful words filled with wisdom, life experiences and reality.

I bought a few of the Christmas Music for Mandolin books here at amazon. This is the only one that I felt was very helpful. The others mainly provide the melody line and chords, which I can get from a bazillion other Christmas collection books. This one provided some very nice arrangements for the mandolin, using double stops, tremelos, etc. I played one of the arrangements in church this morning and they loved it.

There are so many innovations, additions, and acronyms that people who have been involved with manufacturing for the last 30 or 40 years are left wondering, at the heights of their careers, if they are strangers to the profession. Editor Geng (Hewlett-Packard) has arranged 67 industry experts' contributions into 61 chapters. Compacted into only about 1,100 pages, this book covers all aspects of manufacturing: planning, processes, quality assurance, experiments, economics, marketing, management, etc. Most of the chapters are short, crisp, and loaded with the latest know-how. A Must Buy for Anyone in Manufacturing

This new handbook from McGraw-Hill sets the bar high in the wealth of information on manufacturing engineering in the over 60 chapters it contains. Each chapter has been carefully selected for it relevant content in today's global manufacturing environment, and it is clear the author of each chapter is an expert in their field. It is easy to read, and while you want to at first read it from cover to cover, it is organized to allow quick access to just the right information needed. Mr. Geng has done a fantastic job of bringing these experts together to produce a single-source reference. I highly recommend it to anyone, engineers or technicians, desiring to learn and apply the latest manufacturing technology.
